2016, a year in review
I wanted to record myself for a long time now, just to have a memory of it in the future. 2016 was the year so many distinguished artists died, most notably Keith Emerson decided to kill himself because he could no longer perform perfectly for his fans. What a tragedy. I remember myself performing in a small boy band in the 80’s and dreaming of a musician career that never happened.
So this is my take on improvising something:
truth is, all of my songs are improvised (if you didn’t know already…), that’s what you do when you have no time to write things correctly. To do a «perfect» track was and will always be, a dream. Nevertheless, this was the year I wrote several tracks published in soundcloud:
Little Princess (Electrified Mix): another remix of one of my favorite tracks
the child and the ocean: for this track I’m searching for a female voice over…
Sphinxes (Σφίγγες in Greek) a track inspired from the statues in the amphipolis tomb
Not A Beat is an unfinished track, rework of the improvised video I shared in youtube…
I hope I have time in the future to re-work it.
Physicse Aeras (in Greek: Φύσιξε Αέρας) is another track I wanted to have a voice over… Instead I used a voice clip Irene Papas from the 2003 film «Un Filme Malado» singing the Greek folk song «Nerantzoula». It’s one of my favorite songs played by Vangelis (Le Petit Oranger) in his 1979 Odes album, with Irene Papas at her early 50’s.
Some Thunder is a song I originally wrote inspired from my favorite female artist Elena Charbila but lost the files on a Windows 10 audio driver crash. I have to say that build 14986.rs_prerelease.161202-1928 is very good now and currently my favorite operating system 🙂
Angry Cars is a track I wrote late at night one day returning very upset from the way Greek drivers drive their cars at Athens. I have great expectations on self-driving cars not only replacing human drivers, but also forbidding Greek drivers of driving at least in the cities. I had the same experience in Rome, Italy. They drive more aggressive than Greeks..
some passages are the same as in the notabeat song. I can’t escape this melody.
Dark Skies… I have no story for this song… I wrote it after I photographed the small town of Koropi late at night I was passing by from the nearby mountains
Texture Mare, the soundtrack in my mind when I’m swimming…
and last but not least, Somewhere in between is a song inspired by two musicians I incredibly admire,
all songs are freely available for download
wishing you all a happy new year 2017 !
two bonus tracks, two experiments….
